Press Release
(Gwinnett County, Ga., August 7, 2023) – The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office underwent an unannounced inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health for the kitchen facility located inside the Gwinnett County Jail on July 7, 2023. Inspections occur biannually to assess compliance with food service rules and regulations.
The Gwinnett County Jail received a Superior Rating. Inspections are evaluated on a 100-point scale, with Superior Ratings awarded for scores of 90 and above from 18 standardized categories. This achievement is a testament to the commitment, attention-to-detail, and daily work ethic demonstrated by our deputies and civilian personnel assigned to the Support Operations Division.
Together, they execute the task of providing nutrition services to approximately 2,000 residential inmates and 600 staff members each day, serving three meals year-round. Additionally, our staff goes above and beyond to meet the dietary needs and nutritional requirements of many residential inmates.
Sheriff Keybo Taylor emphasizes, "The rating reflects a true measure of success, as it showcases the character of our staff. Their devotion to doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, is evident in this accomplishment.” We will continue to prioritize the highest standards of cleanliness, decency, and health within the Gwinnett County Jail.
