About Us
Welcome to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office, one of the largest jails in the United States.
With a population of nearly one million citizens, Gwinnett County is home to 16 municipalities and is located 30 miles northeast of Atlanta. We are classified as a Direct Supervision Pretrial Detention Center, occupying 3 buildings, 14 security stations, and 41 housing units.
Our mission is to serve and protect the citizens of Gwinnett County through dedication, professionalism, active cooperation with the community, and respect for human dignity.

COURTS
The Court Operations Division is responsible for the security of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC), Nash Court Building, Jail Courts, and the Gwinnett County Courts Annex (GCCA); providing immediate emergency assistance for any emergency that might arise; providing a secure environment for court officials, personnel, visitors, and control inmate conduct.

JAIL
The Jail Operations Division provides a safe and humane environment for inmates, protecting them from victimization within the facility, and provides access to a system of due process internal to the facility; ensures public safety by providing professionally managed jail services to inmates according to judgments of the courts; protects the public and staff; provides the court with pertinent information and effective services for use in pre-sentencing processes and decisions; speaks with courts and attorneys to resolve concerns.

FIELD OPS
The Field Operations Division conducts investigations of criminal violations of the law, provides crime scene and evidence recovery services; and prepares case and incident reports. This division is comprised of four sections: Civil Process Section, Criminal Investigation Section, Mental Health Task Force, and Special Investigations Section.

SUPPORT
The Support Operations Division strengthens community relations and trust; provides community related and crime prevention programs; ensures all inmates receive housing, counseling, job skills, substance abuse treatment, crime prevention, and intensive case management assistance upon release; provides operational support with issued vehicles, maintenance, food service, and information technology security; maintains collected evidence; maintains departmental records, entering law enforcement information into the records management system and database.

ADMIN
The Administrative Services Division manages the fiscal processes, including budget and capital projects; recruits personnel and investigates complaints; conducts staff inspections; oversees in-service training for departmental personnel, promotions, legal matters, internal and external communications; handles the permitting function for specific businesses or individuals; maintains accredited status through the state certification program; and provides administrative support with payroll and human resources.
