GWINNETT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FUGITIVE UNIT APPREHENDS
TWO SUSPECTS INVOLVED IN MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL SCHOOL INCIDENTS

(Gwinnett County, GA, August 4, 2023) – On Thursday, August 3, 2023, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office regarding two males that were identified as non-students entering Jackson County High School. After contact was made with the two males, they left the building. Subsequently, the two males were involved in an incident in Barrow County that resulted in a hard lockdown in the Barrow County School System. Information obtained on social media showed one of the suspects in possession of a firearm. Based upon the information received, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit initiated an investigation that led to the apprehensions of Christian Lebron Williams and Lamonte Dianell Smith. Additionally, during the course of the investigation, it was determined that Christian Lebron Williams had additional outstanding warrants related to firearms charges for a May 2023 incident.


The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the partnerships with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Gwinnett County Police Department, and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office that led to the swift arrests of the suspects.


Questions related to the apprehensions of the individuals should be directed to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Communications Unit. Any questions related to the school incidents should be directed to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and/or the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.
